ABOUT US Who are Arkansans Against Abusive Payday Lending? In late 2003 the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families organized a group of consumer, government and business leaders into a working group called the High Cost of Being Poor Advisory Group. They brought together many diverse organizations to At the final meeting of this Advisory Group H.C. “Hank” Klein, then President/CEO of Arkansas Federal Credit Union, proposed the formation of Arkansans Against Abusive Payday Lending (AAAPL). This informal organization of Arkansans is dedicated to improving the lives of citizens (particularly the working poor) of the State of Arkansas by removing abusive payday lending from our fair state.
